The 72nd annual Boston Common Tree Lighting Ceremony is happening this Thursday, December 5th, at the Boston Common. This is also the 42nd year that a tree is being donated by Nova Scotia, which is given to Boston as a "thank you" for the help after the 1917 explosion that destroyed parts of Halifax.
It will begin at 6:00 pm and last until 8:00 pm, but if you want to see a figure skating show by The Skating Club of Boston, show up around 5:00 pm.
Mayor Menino alongside with the Honourable Andrew Younger, Minister with the Government of Nova Scotia, will be joined by the members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Santa to light up the tree around 8:00 pm. The event will end by a firework show! The event is free, so make sure don't miss out on this memorable event to get you into the holiday spirit! Hopefully you'll be humming for the rest of the night, "it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....!"
So where is this lovely event? Boston Common right here in Boston (it's a huge park, you can't miss it!) And as we mentioned before, the event will take place from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm! It's an event for all ages, and the best part is that it's FREE! It's also an outdoor event, so make sure you dress appropriately!
AND as always, if you post photos or tweet about it, or talk about it on Facebook, make sure you let us know! We could feature your photos in our blog (tag #thehubn for us to notice)! Follow our Instagram and Twitter accounts and like us on Facebook!
